We have deployed serious and sincere efforts to make an eco-friendly resort. We
are not eco-warriors, our policy is not radical. But our concern is genuine and
we try to progress step by step. It will take time before we can replace our
back up diesel generator with proper green energy… Even with governmental
subsidies, solar panels are still way too costly and unpractical.

We have to run a business. In the real world. With limited budget and serious
competition. Maybe we are wrong, but we feel that compromises are unavoidable.
Face the reality, accept it, do your best and move ahead.

So, we bought a costly generator as efficient as possible, we have a solar water
heater, five stars electrical devices and low consumption bulbs everywhere. We
make also big efforts to rise consciousness of the local community about the
fragile backwaters ecosystem, how precious it is, how vital is the need to
respect and protect it.

We do many other things, small or not, obvious for some people and probably
stupid for others. But my point here is not to brag about what we do good, nor
apologize about what we don’t.

We can improve of course, we will improve, we have to. Biogas is the next
serious eco action we plan to set up.

So, well, we are not perfect, but we try… And then, comes the visa

Repeated visa problems are a typical expatriate topic, absolutely boring for
anyone else. So i’ll spare you the vast pile of irritating details. Just one

Despite my investment, financial and personal, in India politically encouraged
tourism business, my visa forces me to leave India every 90 days. So, i am right
now in a plane to Colombo, Sri Lanka, nearest and cheapest airport from Kochi. I
am going back in the next flight, most likely the exact same plane! I just need
the stamp on my passport!

When you know that very few things are as polluting as flying… Crossing the
sea twice in day for a stamp… What a waste! What a plain, absurd, total
